Top 10 Essential Oils – Lemon

  • by

Welcome back to my 10-week series on the top 10 essential oils! This week, it’s all about LEMON! This is a highly antibacterial, detoxifying oil that is good for everything from acne to staph infection. Read all about it here, and enter to win it!

I never really got into using lemon oil until I bought my Premium Starter Kit from Young Living. I knew it was good for cleaning, but that was about it! Now, this is one of my favorite oils that I order every two months or so!

Lemon originally comes from California and Italy and has historically been used in skin care, cleaning, and to treat scurvy!

My Favorite Ways to Use Lemon

Mental Stimulant – I will often diffuse it in the afternoon as I work on the computer during nap time to keep my mind sharp and clear, mixing it with peppermint. It really is uplifting and clears my mind!

Cleaning – I also put it in my cleaning supplies, along with Thieves, for a powerful and safe cleaner.

Dietary Supplement – I add a drop to my water in the morning. I love the way it makes my water taste, plus it helps to kill off bad bacteria in my gut (overgrowth of bad bacteria leads to leaky gut, which cause a whole HOST of autoimmune problems!) and detoxifies my liver! One drop packs quite a punch.

Cooking and Baking – lemon adds delicious flavor and you don’t have to go through the work of squeezing a bunch of lemons! One drop of lemon essential oil is equivalent to 16 lemon rinds, so a little goes a very long way!

Respiratory Infections and Viruses – The other way I use it is when my kids have coughs, colds or other respiratory infections or viruses. It is safe for babies and children, and is gentle, yet still very effective.

There are Three Ways to Use Young Living Oils

Topically – applied to the skin, either on location where the oil is needed or on the Vita Flex points of the feet, hands or ears. Some oils need to be diluted and others do not – it is indicated on each bottle.
Aromatically – diffusing oils in an aromatherapy diffuser is hands-down the easiest and safest way to use them! You can also just sniff straight from the bottle to get therapeutic benefits.
Internally – many of Young Living’s oils are safe to ingest and use internally, either by adding to a drink or carrier oil and swallowing, or putting in a capsule and swallowing. (I can only safely recommend Young Living, however, as it has been tested for purity and quality and has been used for over 20 years internally safely!)
